Butterfly populations are a very good indicator of the health of an area's ecosystem !!
One of the most beautiful species in Africa, they can be found sun bathing with wings outspread in lowland forest habitats.
Their habitat consists of open spaces in primary forests and mature secondary forests.
They have a quite limited home range, being found only in Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Togo, and Benin.
* As members of the Brush Footed (Nymphalidae) family, they use their shorter pair of front legs for tasting food, and their two pairs of longer rear legs for propulsion.
