A small but quite common butterfly, adults fly in the spring, between April and July.
Only the males have orange-tipped forewings; the females have small black tips.
Orange Tips prefer damp habitats such as meadows, woodland glades, hedgerows and
the banks of streams and rivers, and will readily visit gardens.
* Males stay strictly on the edges and clearings of forests, while the females are found almost exclusively in open meadows.

* This butterfly family (Papilionidae) consists of about 1,100 species of butterflies.
Diet: caterpillars eat Cuckooflower and Garlic Mustard. They are also cannibalistic,
sometimes eating the eggs of unhatched orange-tips.
Diet: adults feed on nectar.
