(Polyura jalysus)
Butterfly populations are a very good indicator of the health of an area's ecosystem !!
Also known s the Emerald Nawab
Polyura jalysus preferred habitat is forests and woodlands, tropical rainforests and savannas.
Adults can be found in areas rich with flowering plants, as they feed on nectar.
They may also be found basking in the sun on open trails or paths during suitable weather conditions, particularly in the morning.
Warm, dry, and sunny conditions are optimal for adults to be active and flying around seeking nectar.
Overcast or cooler days may lead to finding them resting on the undersides of leaves or on vegetation.
They fly most of the year depending on location.
Both sexes are similar but there may be some variation in size.
They have a strong and rapid flight and are found usually in the tree tops unless feeding.
Predators are birds, rodents, parasitic wasps, spiders and ants.
   * As members of the Brush Footed (Nymphalidae) family, they use their short pair of front legs for food tasting, and their two pairs of longer rear legs for prolulsion.
