Precis pelarga is a common African forest, savannah and disturbed area species with seasonal polyphenism.
They can be found in open forests and in savannah, at an elevation of about 0–1,350 m (0–4,429 ft) above sea level.
They also exhibit seasonal dimorphism.
Dry season forms have more curved forewings and bluish white bands on the recto, while the wet season forms have orange white dorsal bands.
