Butterfly populations are a very good indicator of the health of an area's ecosystem !!
Also known as the Green Black-striped Giant Jay
5 Bar Swordtails have wing that are primarily black and green in color.
They  perform an incredible migratory journey, flying through their habitat. (They prefer forest areas, farmland and cultivated land, urban and suburban areas.)
Being migratory, they can be found at nectar sources and observed during the warmer hours of the day while they seek out food, sunbathing and mating, and may also be found resting amongst vegetation in the early morning and evening hours.

The ideal weather conditions for spotting them are warm days with little wind. (butterflies are typically inactive in rainy, cloudy, windy, or cold conditions.)
They are characterized by long hindwing "tails", which act as false antennae for predators, deflecting attacks away from vital body parts.
Adult have brightly colored and patterned wings. and slender bodies with compound eyes and well-developed mouthparts for sucking nectar from flowers.
Despite their delicate appearance, they can reach rapid flight speeds and are extremely agile and swift creatures in the air.
During the larval stage, they are primarily focused on eating and growing. They have a soft, worm-like body and may display a variety of colors for camouflage or warning purposes. It undergoes multiple molts, increasing in size.

Their primarily focus is breeding and dispersal.
    * 5 Bar Swordtails are not poisonous butterflies, but they do have special glands that secrete foul odors and chemicals to discourage predation.
